Are we really feeling fine? wefeelfine.org-great idea, great design, but Should they take your feelings?

After looking at the website ‘wefeelfine.org’ I first thought how amazing it was, I just really thought how clever is that. Harris’s ideas are so orignal, even though we all know how emotional we as human beings can be, to take the idea of how similar we are through emotion and make a website based on it, would seem obvious to do, but Harris and his team are the first to create this and they have done it brilliantly, the design is amazing; especially the particle idea and the colours used.

However, there are a few elements to the website that I found hard to understand. For example, why is the categories split into men and women if the website is about emotion of people, It makes us different when his orignal idea is to show how similar we are without the ‘gaps’ in our lives. Harris would probably argue that it creates more of a detailed result, because you can tell which sex is most emotional at any given time. But i believe it is creating a gap again between men and women, so i feel that could be changed.

Another feature of the site that i don’t know if it particularly works is the age groups, because when he showed a graph of the information of what age group was the most emotional at that point in time. The only categories shown were a small number of teens and people in their thirties, with people in their twenties proving to be the most emotional. I only think it showed this because thats the only age group that really uses the web to express their emotions, so is it a fair reading of the world emotion? Not everyone uses the web, but could be extremely emotional.

Another question that i thought about after i realised where all the information for the sentences comes from. Is do they have the right to your personal thoughts and feelings? These could be from your Facebook, Twitter or WordPress, completely taken from your page, with no warning. However, if you really want things about you to be private, do you put it on the net in the first place…? I wouldn’t.

tenbyten.org:

I love this website, I have never seen news presented in this way before. It’s fun and modern, and the design is really nicely done aswell.

ilovetypography.com:

One of my favourite areas of design is typography, I really enjoy making words as interesting as images. I found this website yo have a great layout, its elegant and fresh at the same time.

Three websites in my opinion that aren’t very good

My Space:

I chose My Space as a not very successful website due to the fact of how much it was behind facebook with the features it offered but then it just seemed to copy facebook. But I already believe it was too late, because a lot of people stopped using my space, myself included. It just wasn’t offering the same social networking.

Wikipedia:

I find wikipedia helpful at times, but sometimes I’m not sure if it’s all information you can trust, because I have found you get all different statements from all different sources. I also think it is just too easy, no gets a book out to get research they just click on to Wikipedia.

Tesco:

When I have gone to use Tesco to do online shopping I found it confusing and not that useful. For example you can’t even see what you buying because often there is no image!

Three Websites that I believe to be very good

Liverpool FC:

I chose the official Liverpool website as a good website simply because it is packed full of information, you can find everything you need to know about the club on the one website, instead of searching several. The site is always up to date with the latest news feeds, with news you can trust. I like the use of typography and colour on the site, makes its practical but also easy on the eye. The only thing I don’t think is needed is the first title page, which you have to click on to enter the site in the first place; it just slows you up.

Facebook:

The reasons why I picked Facebook as a good website is firstly because of how popular it is, for a website to be this popular it must mean it works well and is successful. The website is very user friendly because it is easy to get started with creating your profile and then using its many features. I find the colours used with the simple blue and white design makes it very neutral and legible.

Speedway Grand Prix:

This website is a good website because of its layout and design, I just love the options to click on and how they are simple to see and use. There is a large amount of information about all the riders, events and tickets. Again there is everything you need as a fan to look at on the one website, not hundreds.

First day back, would have struggled without Kat
